Fundraiser a Tribute to Historic Film Premiere - Petula Clark in Attendance!

Petula Clark, the legendary British singer and performer, will officially open the 2009 revival premiere of the classic U.K. film, “I Know Where I’m Going” on Friday, September 18th at 7 p.m. at Peninsula Shores Performing Arts Centre in Wiarton. This screening commemorates the film’s now largely forgotten North American premiere in Tobermory, Ontario on April 29, 1946.
Meet Petula Clark in Wiarton, live and in conversation, where she will be speaking about the film, her subsequent career, and signing autographs and CDs, to officially open the film screening. Petula appeared in the film at age 13, which was first premiered in 1946 in Tobermory, Ontario.

Doors open: 6:30 p.m. Opening 7 p.m. Petula Live 7:30 p.m.
In the theatre lobby, there will be 50 CDs available to purchase of “Petula’s Greatest Hits” and 10 of “Solitude & Sunshine: The Songs of Rod McKuen” at a price of $15; also 15 DVDs of the British movie “I Know Where I’m Going”.
Event proceeds benefit “Miracle Place - Wiarton”, the peninsula’s first affordable rental apartment project, to be built at Charles and Isaac streets, Wiarton, behind the Salvation Army Centre. The project is expected to be complete in February 2010. $380,000 is needed to be raised over five years to achieve a mortgage-free project.
Tax receipts issued on request for $15 of the ticket price.

Tickets will be available for pickup at the door of the event or may be picked up at Peninsula Shores District School by phoning Beth Moore at 519-534-2205 ahead of time. Bring proof of purchase, such as your credit card statement or confirmation printout from Paypal. Tickets may also be purchased at the school by phoning Beth.
To get to the school from Berford Street (Highway 6) in Wiarton, turn West (up the hill) onto George Street, which deadends at the school theatre.
